Florence Wilson Elementary School, USD 457
Instructional Coach
A Texas native, my family and I moved to Kansas in 2000.  I started and completed high school in Garden City, KS.  After graduation, I began my undergraduate career in Elementary Education  at Kansas State University in the summer of 2004.  Upon graduating KSU in 2008, I returned to Garden City where I have worked for the last 13 years. In 2013, I earned my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Newman University.   Eleven of my years in public education have been in the classroom teaching grades first, second, and third. In the fall of 2017, I was one of three named a "Crystal Apple Teacher" in Finney County.  This award led me to become my district's 2019 nominee for Kansas Teacher of the Year, Region 1.   For the past two years, I have been working as an instructional coach in a K-4 elementary building.  While the transition to working with adults has been a rewarding growth opportunity, my "why" is still the students I have the opportunity to serve.  While I I miss working directly with children, knowing I can impact the teachers that impact them make me excited to go to work each day.
