This session will guide participants to integrate digital texts and tools in literacy instruction to promote children’s comprehension and vocabulary learning (preK-2). First, the DigiLit Framework, which guides digital text/tool selection and integration, will be presented. Then, examples of how specific digital texts and tools can be used to transform comprehension and vocabulary instruction will be provided. Finally, participants will practice selecting digital text/tools to meet their classroom needs, and plan to integrate those into their literacy instruction to promote comprehension and vocabulary learning. These selections and plans will be shared and discussed. Feedback will be provided.
Too often, we associate math with "problems." As it turns out, there are many games that are terrific for helping young children think about number in new ways. In this session, you will get a chance to try out some of the most powerful games for early numbers sense and work with colleagues to plan for their use
In this session participants will learn how targeted instruction in peer social skills and emotional literacy improves children’s social-emotional development, the development of friendships and can reduce challenging behaviors. Classroom implementation strategies that can be used across the day will be highlighted with examples, pictures and video clips.
